WMO: El Nino to occur from the middle of the year
May 4, 2026The World Meteorological Organization announced on April 24 that it is anticipated that El Nino will occur from the middle of this year.
Saying that such marked climate change as radical rise in the temperature of the sea surface in the equatorial Pacific region is being observed, the organization warned that El Nino is likely to occur between May and July and the temperature might be higher than the average in almost all parts of the world in that period.
El Nino is a phenomenon characterized by an abnormal rise in the temperature of the sea surface in the wide area of the equatorial Pacific region centring on the sea off Peru. It is known as a cause of acceleration of global warming and all kinds of abnormal weather.
