Chinese FM criticizes Japan for firing attack-oriented missile outside its boundary

May 13, 2026

On May 6, Japan joined the combined military exercises led by the US and the Philippines in the sea off the north of Luzon Island of the Philippines and launched an attack-oriented missile from the outside of its territory for the first time after World War II.

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry told a journalist in this respect that at this point of time marking the 80th anniversary of the start of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, the aggressor in the past dispatched its troops overseas under the cloak of “security cooperation” instead of seriously reflecting on its crimes.

Such a tendency proves once again that the rightist forces of Japan are now stirring up the acceleration of military resurgence and constantly violating the relevant regulations of "exclusive defense” and international and domestic laws and some of its policies and actions have already gone far beyond the category of “self-defense”, he noted.

The fundamentally wrong history education and view on history overlap the strategic attempt at war preparations and the calamity invited by the neo-militaristic forces of Japan poses a threat to regional peace and stability, he added.
