Significant scientific research achievements

Scientific research findings of great significance in reality have been announced in recent years, contributing to the country’s economic development. 

The technical group of the Taean Heavy Machine Complex established a bearing steel production method using the pig iron made with the oxygen-blast furnace.

The new bearing steel production method is very significant in meeting the demands for various kinds of bearing steel badly needed for several sectors of the national economy including the machine-building and coal mining industries, rail transport and agriculture.

The complex developed the bearing steel production method using pig iron made with the oxygen-blast furnace and built a production process.

According to experts, the bearing steel produced by the complex is cheaper in price and much longer in lifespan than imported steel.

The Central Mining Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences set up a process of flotation based on air power loader.

It laid the foundations for boosting productivity by massively processing ores. On the basis of the analysis of data on the world trend related to the process of flotation, the scientists of the institute intensified research to develop an air power loader which can turn dressing plants into energy-, site- and labour-saving ones while expanding their processing capacity and succeeded in it. The institute introduced the machine into several mines including ore dressing plant No. 3 and the Unpha Mine, making an enormous contribution to readjusting and reinforcing the dressing plants and increasing the production of minerals. The research finding can reportedly be introduced into all dressing plants of the country irrespective of the kinds of minerals.

The Academy of Hydrometeorology under the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration developed an integrated weather forecast system using AI technology.

It is a system which improves the accuracy of weather forecast and performs all processes from the acquisition of data to the presentation and general display of forecasts objectively, automatically and in real time by employing artificial intelligence technology. By applying AI technology, they established the methods for improving the accuracy of disastrous weather forecast, fixed the accuracy evaluation indexes and evaluation methods for various kinds of models and items of forecast and developed a method of generating forecasts by the deep neural network.

The food research institute of the Academy of Food and Consumer Goods Industries under the Ministry of Regional Industry set up advanced production processes of wheat flour gluten reinforcing agents and natural preservatives.

The development and production of wheat flour gluten reinforcing agents and natural preservatives with local technology and raw materials opened up the prospects for producing special wheat flour suitable for making various kinds of tasty and quality processed wheat products in all regions of the country and boosting their storage safety. The researchers of the institute set themselves a goal of producing quality wheat products and developed and introduced novel ideas while confirming scientific technical indices which will help increase the intensity of gluten.

In cooperation with the Microbiology Institute of the State Academy of Sciences and other units they have already established a rational method of mixing new materials and are now stepping up the preparations for normalizing production.
