Chinese Defence Ministry urges Japan to show act of repenting of its crimes

May 14, 2026

A spokesman for the Chinese Defence Ministry criticized Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi for asserting that the Japanese constitution should be regularly updated.

Over the past 80 years since the International Military Tribunal for the Far East was held, the Japanese right-wing forces have resorted to all possible means to attenuate the stern judgment which represents human conscience, history and justice and distorted and negated the crimes of aggression by Japanese militarism which were recorded with clear evidence, he said.

Class-A war criminals are revered as “heroes” though they committed heinous crimes and their name tablets have been enshrined at the Yasukuni Shrine, and the Japanese right-wing forces have turned from secretly expanding their military expenses to openly making war preparations, he noted.

China strongly demands that the Japanese ruling authorities abandon their dangerous wild ambition of military expansion and war preparations and sincerely show how they see the history rightly and feel genuine remorse for the crimes, he added.
