After the Eleventh Congress of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, dozens of young people in South Phyongan Province volunteered to work at major worksites for implementing the Workers' Party of Korea's decisions.

Those in Tokchon and Kaechon cities and Pukchang, Mundok and Taedong counties vowed to work at coal mines in the western areas of the country.

Many young men and women in Phyongsong City and Hoechang, Phyongwon, Jungsan and Unsan counties volunteered for difficult and labour-consuming worksites, including raw materials base station and construction brigade.

Youth league members in Maengsan and Sinyang counties applied to work at youth workteams for maintaining roads over mountains.

A meeting was held in Phyongsong City on May 20 to congratulate the volunteers.

Certificates of volunteering were awarded to the volunteers and speeches were made at the meeting attended by officials concerned, youth league officials and other young people.

Presenting bouquets of flowers to the volunteers leaving for their new workplaces, officials and young people in the province encouraged them.
