New teaching methods developed in general education field
May 30, 2026The general education institutions in Pyongyang Municipality intensify their efforts to develop new teaching methods conducive to training students as talents possessed of broad and practical knowledge and high creative ability.
Changdok School worked out a heuristic teaching method to help students obtain a theoretical understanding of the contents of education through the course of visiting factories and enterprises related to the contents of the next lessons after school and conceiving, designing and putting into effect the most realistic and rational experimental plan.
New teaching methods invented at Kang Pan Sok Senior Middle School, Moranbong Middle School No. 1 and other schools include a study guidance method into which the intelligent teaching control system is introduced, a student-oriented extracurricular teaching method using a new extracurricular group operation support program and a teaching method to develop the space representation ability and ability to conceive through new teaching aids. They are widely generalized as they help students possess the creative ability to think and practise independently and actively as well as wide knowledge.
Many teaching methods are very helpful in systematically improving the students’ command of foreign languages according to school systems.
In particular, the method of teaching students with high intuitional thinking abilities the rules on English pronunciation to suit their characteristics, which was worked out at Kim Song Ju Primary School, is effective in intensifying foreign language education for students at the stage of primary school.
Effective teaching methods have also been developed by the teachers of preschool educational institutions.
Among them are a children’s robot education support program for developing children’s observation, memory, thinking and understanding, a teaching method which helps children easily learn the content of the foreign language textbook for kindergarten by singing it to the tune of interesting songs and consolidate the pronunciations of words and sentences by playing a drama on the theme of fairy tale, and a teaching method for solidifying the basic pronunciations and improving the speaking ability in foreign languages by encouraging children to often use the words and sentences they learned at every opportune time in their daily routine at kindergarten and family life. They are very helpful in promoting the kindergarten education according to the second universal 12-year compulsory education programme.
