‘I completely entrust my child to this kindergarten’

Yokjon Kindergarten in Central District, Pyongyang, which was awarded the title of honoured model kindergarten three times, is a small one.

But its educational condition, environment and level are perfect.

The kindergarten looks cosy including its two-storeyed building decorated with beautiful exterior wall tiles and its playground covered with artificial turf and equipped with various kinds of amusement facilities.

Its corridor walls are covered with cartoon images, all corridor stairs inscribed with patterns of soles of feet to make children accustomed to walking on the right side and all rooms equipped with fixtures to the liking of children.

This environment satisfies parents who entrust their children to the kindergarten.

Ji Kyong Hui, chief of the kindergarten, said that its teachers orient their thinking and activities to helping children develop their intellectual abilities, finding the buds of their latent talents and cultivating them, and making them well-mannered and honest in their kindergarten days.

The kindergarten improves observation, memory, thinking and cognitive powers of children by actively introducing effective and advantageous teaching methods. In the foreign language education, it uses melodies of interesting songs so that children can understand the contents of teaching materials with ease and makes them practise their pronunciation of words and sentences by playing at being characters of fairy tales.

The kindergarten positively runs extracurricular hobby groups including those for paduk, violin, janggu and piano.

Thanks to selfless efforts of its teachers dedicated to children, the kindergarten has produced a lot of talents in recent years.

Among them were Jon Kwon Un who gave pleasure to the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un by presenting a collection of his pictures to him, Kim Yu Phyong who won the first place at the 15th national contest of kindergarten children with excellent talents and Hwang Ri Jong who won a gold medal and diploma by presenting her clay sculpture “Good harvest” at the Sixth National Sculpture and Craftwork Festival. This year, O Sin A won the spring Pyongyang municipal children’s paduk contest and several other children displayed their talents on TV programmes of children’s music.

The teachers say that effective in the education to make children well-mannered and honest and have them get into good habits of life were a method of using cartoons and fairy tale picture books which interestingly show lessons from life and that of giving red stars to good children.

Quite pleased with their children’s admirable growth, the parents of children at the kindergarten say that children have had good manners and spoken politely since they began to attend the kindergarten, that they readily give delicious foods to seniors first or that they care about their friends, adding that they completely entrust their children to the kindergarten.
