Russian security service frustrates large-scale wiretapping operations of foreign special agencies

June 11, 2026

The Russian Federal Security Service on June 2 announced that it detected and frustrated the large-scale wiretapping operations of foreign special agencies against high-ranking officials of Russia.

According to it, the foreign special agencies attempted to install a spy program in the mobile communication means of Russian high-ranking officials.

The program reportedly can tap phones and covertly do audio and video surveillance of the surroundings of mobile communication means.

Disclosing that the installation of the spy program for tapping phones of Russian high-ranking officials was one of the large-scale operations conducted by foreign special agencies, the Russian Federal Security Service said that those officials subjected to phone taps by these agencies are later included in the targets of sanctions by the US and the EU.

It then accused the foreign special agencies of using latest IT means for their structure-destroying activities.
