June 17, 2026The DPRK team lifted the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup again in 2026.
This made the team the first five-time winner in the history of the tournament.
2007 AFC U-16 Women's Championship
The DPRK team took part in the then AFC U-16 Women's Championship for the first time in 2007.
The team, led by the then chief coach An Chang Nam, won all four matches from the group league matches to the final, scoring the largest number of goals (15 goals). At the tournament, Yun Hyon Hi of the DPRK team won the best player and top scorer awards by scoring seven goals.
2015 AFC U-16 Women's Championship
The 2015 AFC U-16 Women's Championship was the one the DPRK team took part in for the fifth time. The team, led by chief coach Hwang Yong Song, advanced to the final match for the fifth time in the history of the tournament. It scored 13 goals during the contest and Ri Hae Yon won the best player award.
2017 AFC U-16 Women's Championship
The DPRK team was led by chief coach Song Sung Gwon during the 2017 AFC U-16 Women's Championship.
The team, which advanced to the final for the sixth time, won the trophy again. It scored 20 goals, and the best player and top scorer awards went to Kim Kyong Yong.
2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup
In 2024, the DPRK team advanced to the final for the eighth time to win the fourth cup.
The team scored 24 goals in total at the tournament. The top scorer award went to Jon Il Chong and the best goalkeeper award to Pak Ju Gyong, goalkeeper who did not concede even a goal during the contest. Song Sung Gwon, the then chief coach of the team, became a coach who led the U-17 team to win two Asian and one world championships.
2026 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup
This year, the young women footballers of the DPRK lifted the fifth trophy of the competition and qualified for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup finals.
At the tournament, No. 10 and forward Yu Jong Hyang won the best player and top scorer awards and No. 1 and goalkeeper Kim Son Gyong won the best goalkeeper award.
Ji Yun Nam, chief coach who led the team to victory, is a Merited Athlete.
