The regional-industry factories newly built in 40 cities and counties are directing positive efforts to bringing out speciality products that can represent their regions.

“The regional-industry factories set a variety of production indexes in keeping with the features and economic potentialities of their regions and are increasing the kinds of products,” said an official of the Ministry of Regional Industry 

The new foodstuff factory built in Kim Jong Suk County near mountains produces distinctive pickled foods with edible herbs like aralia shoots and bracken, which are gaining in popularity.

Various kinds of processed seafood are produced in different coastal regions.

The Sinpho City Foodstuff Factory makes pickled pollack entrails and wholesome kelp tea, which are in high demand even in other regions.

The Onchon County Foodstuff Factory and Yomju County Seafood Processing Factory produce dozens of kinds of processed seafood, including dried clam, dried razor clam and dried goby, while foodstuff factories in Hamju, Kumya and Jongphyong counties process various marine products like sardine and sandfish.

Daily necessities factories in different parts of the country are developing and producing iconic goods of their localities.

Those in Ryonggang County of Nampho Municipality and Puryong County of North Hamgyong Province with rich natural stone resources produce various kinds of stone craftworks with high-quality granite.

The Yomju County Daily Necessities Factory makes special stone craftworks with black stones of the county, which have been known as rare ones from olden times.
