Australians’ growing distrust in US

June 28, 2026

Distrust of the United States is growing among Australians.

A recent opinion poll by a Sydney-based research institute showed that 68 percent of respondents expressed dissatisfaction over the US behaviour on the world stage, a 33-percent increase as against 2022.

The proportion of respondents insisting on “alliance” with the US has decreased by 18 percent.

This indicates that the trust of the Australian people in the US was on the lowest level in the recent opinion poll among those conducted annually over the past 20 years.

Australians are now enraged at the fuel crisis and the deteriorated economic situation caused by the US’ military attack on Iran.
