A meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on July 1 to celebrate the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China.

It was attended by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC and president of the People's Republic of China, leading officials of the Party and state and delegates from all walks of life.

When the opening of the meeting was declared, all the participants stood up to sing the national anthem in chorus.

Xi Jinping awarded the "Order of July 1" to model Party members who made distinguished contributions while serving the Party and people at the grass-roots level for a long time.

Commendations were also awarded to the excellent Party members and officials and advanced basic Party organizations across the country.

Xi Jinping made an important speech.

He extended his congratulations to all the members of the CPC on the holiday and warmly congratulated the winners of the "Order of July 1" and the excellent Party members and officials and advanced basic Party organizations across the country on receiving commendations.

Xi noted that since its foundation, the Communist Party of China has consistently defended its original aim and mission of promoting the happiness of the Chinese people and the prosperity of the Chinese nation and achieved successes in socialist construction by uniting and leading the peoples of all nations throughout the country. And he continued:

China worked two miracles―rapid economic development and long-term stability of society. All successes are the result of the constant struggle waged by the Party members generation after generation.

In order to fulfil the mission and duty of the Party in the new journey of the new era, all the members of the CPC should continue to strive with firm confidence and steadily create new exploits for the times and people.

The comprehensive leadership of the Party and the centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee should be maintained and the ideology of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era actively implemented.

If a country is to be strong, its army should be strong and only when its army is strong, can the country be safe and secure. We should comprehensively carry through the Party’s idea on building a powerful army in the new era, maintain the absolute leadership of the Party over the army and push forward the modernization of national defence and army at a high qualitative level.

The young people are the main force of the struggle to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The young people of China in the new era should steadily obey and follow the Party, bravely shoulder the heavy responsibility of the times and successfully carry forward the historical traditions in the new journey to attain the ideals of youth.

Stressing the need to comprehensively build a modern and powerful socialist country and attain the second century fighting goals, Xi Jinping called upon all the Party members to always bear in mind the original aim and mission and to vigorously create a new and brilliant history by firmly relying on the peoples of all nations across the country.

The meeting ended with the playing of the song “Internationale”.
