It is President Kim Il Sung who brought the spring of national resurrection to the Korean people, who had been deprived of their spoken and written language and their names, to say nothing of their dignity and rights as human beings, at the time when they lost their country to the Japanese imperialists. 

He embarked on the road of revolution in his teens, achieved the independence of the country by fighting the bloody anti-Japanese war and built on this land a country whose masters are the people and a socialist society centred on the popular masses.

After the country’s liberation, he successfully carried out the anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution and put forward the Korean people, who had been mercilessly trampled underfoot by the fetters of feudalism and the Japanese imperialists’ ferocious colonial rule, as masters of the land, factories and the country.

He built the Workers’ Party of Korea as the party of the working people and the state as the democratic people’s republic in which the will of the working people is adopted as its policies. And he empowered the Korean people to be an independent people who firmly defend and shape their destiny by their own efforts.

Under his wise leadership, the Korean people defeated the US imperialists, who boasted of being the “strongest” in the world and ignited the fuse of a war of aggression against the DPRK, and demonstrated the mettle of the heroic people to the whole world.

After the war, they dealt a crushing blow again to the US imperialists who argued that the DPRK could not rise in 100 years. They successfully completed the postwar rehabilitation of the national economy in a little over three years and carried out socialist industrialization in 14 years.

In those years the great Chollima era, which was recorded as a brilliant page in the history of the country, was born and the Korean people won the admiration of the world people as a heroic people.

As they victoriously built an invincible socialist state independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence under the leadership of the President, the position of the Korean people was further elevated and their dignity and honour shone brilliantly.
