The International Friendship Exhibition House is situated in Mt Myohyang, a scenic spot of the DPRK.

It is a treasure house in praise of great men, which comprehensively reflects the world people’s ardent reverence for President Kim Il Sung.

Many party leaders, heads of state and government and prominent figures across the world who were fascinated by the President’s personality as a great man presented numerous presents to him. During the whole period of his revolutionary leadership, he received tens of thousands of gifts from the world people. 

However, he did not think that the gifts he received were just for himself. He said that all the gifts he received were assets of the country, not private ones, so they should be taken to and kept in a gift exhibition hall, adding that they should be preserved well as the gifts from other countries are national treasures of historical significance.

Thus, the “International Friendship Exhibition House” reflecting the reverence for the great man was created to house the gifts presented to the President by many people from around the world.

Among the gifts from heads of state, figures of various circles and organizations of different countries are a portrait of the President drawn with the Arabic translation of his work “The Non-Aligned Movement Is a Mighty Anti-imperialist Revolutionary Force of Our Times” presented by the director of a Syrian public information organization, ivory carving “President Kim Il Sung’s Birthplace at Mangyongdae” presented by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on the occasion of his 65th birth anniversary, a fountain pen inscribed with the whole text of the speech made by Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai in the front of Beijing Railway Station when the President visited the People’s Republic of China in November 1958, and two 2.5-metre-long ivories weighing 55 kilograms each.

Even after the President passed away on July 8 1994, many people across the world continuously sent many gifts with boundless yearning and reverence for him.

Also on display in the International Friendship Exhibition House are gifts presented by party leaders, heads of state and government and people of different countries in the world to Chairman Kim Jong Il and General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

Today, many people at home and abroad visit the exhibition house.

A Russian personage who visited the exhibition house expressed his impression saying that there were not a few famous politicians in the world but no one made gifts he received in possession of the people like the leaders of the DPRK did and that the International Friendship Exhibition House is not simply a gift exhibition house but an eternal national treasure of socialist Korea, which is associated with warm sincerity of the world progressive people and reflects their reverence for the great men.
