The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, received a congratulatory message from Comrade Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, on July 11.

The message said:

Comrade General Secretary,

I, on behalf of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and the Chinese people, extend warm congratulations to you and the Workers' Party of Korea, the DPRK government and the Korean people on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the conclusion of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.

The treaty, concluded by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries in 1961, has served as an important political and legal basis for consolidating the militant friendship sealed in blood by the peoples of the two countries and played an important role in developing the China-DPRK friendship down through generations and defending peace and stability in the region and the rest of the world.

For 65 years, both sides have fought shoulder to shoulder and supported and cooperated with each other in accordance with the spirit of the treaty, giving a vivid demonstration of the distinct features of the China-DPRK friendly relations of sharing their destiny and defending and helping each other for generations.

During my successful state visit to the DPRK in June this year I, together with you, Comrade General Secretary, achieved an important shared understanding of the issue of inheriting and consolidating the traditional China-DPRK friendship and attaching a new meaning of the times to it and laid out a strategic orientation and a new blueprint for the development of the China-DPRK relations in a new period.

In order to cope with the rapidly changing phase of the world unprecedented in one hundred years, I am ready to have closer strategic communication with you, Comrade General Secretary, and make a positive contribution to leading the friendship and cooperation between the two sides to bring better wellbeing to the peoples of the two countries and promoting the regional peace and development by firmly maintaining the orientation of the development of the relations between the two countries.

I affirm again that there would be no change in the firm stand of the Chinese party and government attaching great importance to the traditional China-DPRK friendship, their firm support for the socialist cause of the DPRK led by Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un and their firm determination to defend the common interests and good strategic environment of both sides no matter how the international situation may change.

I am convinced that the Korean people will steadily achieve new greater successes in accomplishing the cause of socialist construction by comprehensively implementing the decisions and assignments of the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea under its leadership headed by you, Comrade General Secretary.

I wish your country prosperity and people happiness and well-being.

I wish the China-DPRK friendship immortality.
