The Sangwon Cement Complex is an industrial establishment that supports the country with high production records and by dint of a drive for increased production, as well as a powerful enterprise that can carry out any task.

The wonderful structures that were built in the past five years of the great heyday of construction are all associated with the complex. With the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea as the starting point, the workers of the complex increased cement production to the level far beyond the maximum production capacity, which they could not even imagine ten years ago, and continuously renewed the production records of the peak year, adding confidence to the advance of the state and opening up a possibility for the success of such gigantic projects. 

There are women workers among the praiseworthy working people of Sangwon.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un said that there are a number of large and important enterprises in the country, but none of them has such a group of staunch and militant workers as the Sangwon workers, said Kim Yong Ok, a girl machine operator working in the firing chamber of the kiln, adding proudly that she was one of them. 

Kim Kyong Sim who is in charge of a depot of the calcination workshop supplies different kinds of materials and spare parts needed for the regular management of equipment to the work sites. Calcination workers call her, who is always busy delivering materials and machine parts to workteams, “mother of workshop”. She strives to ensure the full operation of equipment without a moment’s stop, as she always thinks what she can do more for the increased cement production and how she can give greater pleasure to General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

There are some women who are known as labour innovators at the workshops processing secondary materials.

Women workers of the mixing material and raw material workshops acquired high skills so as to grasp the conditions of equipment in an instant just from the vibration and flux of the machines, thus overfulfilling their monthly norms.

Jong Sun Yong, a worker of the grinding workteam of the cement workshop, operates super-large machines just like men workers. Since 70 percent of the equipment of the workshop is concentrated at the workteam, she is taking good care of the machines with feminine delicacy and is adored by her co-workers.

The devotion of women to increasing cement production is not confined to their workplaces. 

The women of Sangwon take the whole responsibilities for their household affairs for their husbands and children working at the cement complex and find their joy and pleasure of life in the increased production of cement.

Those at the Samchong Mine provide supply service to the miners entering pits and conduct motivational activities to encourage their husbands, while those at the Sangwon Limestone Mine keep hundreds of metres of roads so that trucks loading minerals can travel on schedule.

Saying that a kilogram of additive is just a kilogram of cement, Ri Yong Sil, a resident of the Myongdang Workers’ District, collects dozens of kilograms of additives every day so as to contribute to increasing cement production.

The miraculous increase in production achieved by the Sangwon Cement Complex is associated with the devoted efforts of the patriotic women of Sangwon.
