WPK Central Committee sends congratulatory letter to participants in Eighth Congress of SWUK and all other women's union members
July 16, 2026The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a congratulatory letter to the participants in the Eighth Congress of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea and all other women's union members on July 13.
The WPK Central Committee in the congratulatory letter said that the period of five years since the Seventh Congress of the SWUK is shining as a period when the noble traits of the Korean women stood out afresh in the era along with the activities of the women's union which wrote new pages in the history of the Korean women's movement under the leadership of the WPK.
Recorded in the history of the women's union, which has advanced with the guidance of the Party and the leader as its lifeline and lifeblood, are its seven congresses shining as the fruits of loyalty and patriotism, but there was no such congress as the current one which proudly reviews the days full of honour and pride of our women's genuine life and which they proudly greet with valuable contributions to the Party and the country, the congratulatory letter said, and went on:
The beautiful imprints and indelible traces of conscience our women left in all the successes reviewed by the Ninth Congress of the WPK and the monumental edifices representing the dignity and advance of the DPRK serve as the most correct and valuable proof of the women's union work.
In the days when the country dynamically advanced with the firm ideal despite manifold difficulties brought by unexpected crises and acute situation, the women served as a cornerstone to help their husbands and children stay undisturbed at their worksites and posts and set numerous records and perform lots of feats admired by the world. For these efforts and exploits alone, our women should be deeply respected.
Furthermore, our women, not confining themselves to household duty, have made devoted efforts at coal mines, power stations and other major worksites for economic construction and the construction sites for regional development across the country. They have also dedicated themselves to sprucing up streets and villages that undergo changes day after day and aiding the army.
Our women, who are ready to go all out for resolving all the problems the Party is worried about and prioritizes, have diligently cultivated farmland and made sincere efforts to secure "Nyomaeng" farm machines and military equipment for the army. And they did various good deeds for the country, created many forests, spruced up their living environments and helped orphans and old persons without any caregivers and needy families, regarding all such work as their duties.
Our women including mothers in this country are pure-minded and conscientious human beings as they know how every policy for them is adopted at a time when the country has so much work to do and has to economize in the use of money and how much the country considers to implement it and as they place the duty of repayment above the right to enjoy and voluntarily do what they have to do.
As our women are well aware that they should entrust their most precious families and beloved children to the embrace of the benevolent country and defend it, all of them are excellent in terms of the spirit of remaining true to the Party and loving and defending their social system and the dedication shown for national affairs rather than family affairs.
The congratulatory letter stressed that the vigorous transformation struggle in the new era for national prosperity calls for further enhancing the functions and role of the working people's organizations, as transmission belt of the Party, which take their roots deep among the broad masses and encourage them to the implementation of the Party’s policies.
The letter continued:
The Socialist Women's Union of Korea should fulfil their honourable duty for the Party and the revolution, the times and the country by remaining faithful to the important mission of training millions of women to be the genuine social human beings sharing the ideology, intention, breath and pace with our Party only.
The women's union should concentrate its efforts on the ideological education before anything else and continue to preserve the character and original features of the Korean women advancing along only the road indicated by the Party with firm belief in its line and policies, and the purity and beautiful traits peculiar to them.
At present, the education in patriotism, class awareness and morality is an important task the women's union should direct special effort to.
The women's union organizations at all levels should vigorously organize and launch various mass movements and socialist emulation drives and review and appreciate them properly so as to glorify the women's devoted efforts in every part of the country—mountains and fields, streets and villages—as precious patriotic feats.
It is important to make all the women the communist mothers, who think and act as required by the changed environment and developing times, and the excellent communist educators for younger generations.
The women's union, an organization of mothers going towards communism, should direct great efforts to educating children, pay close attention to the families with many children and methodologically conduct the work for learning from the mother heroes and other fine mothers and thereby make sure that many reliable pillars are prepared to take responsibility for the future of the country and the revolution.
Our Party will as ever creditably defend the life and homes of the women and our rising generation and continue striving to realize as early as possible the desire of mothers for their children's better life.
The WPK Central Committee in the congratulatory letter expressed the belief that the women's union organizations at all levels and the women's union officials and members would fully display the upright and noble traits of Korean women in the sacred and worthwhile struggle for national prosperity, always united in one mind.
