The Second Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea conducted an interim review of the implementation of the Party and state policies for 2026, confirmed the central points of work and the orientation of struggle for the second half of the year, and discussed and decided on the pending issues urgently needed for putting overall socialist construction on a stable and sustained development track.

The meeting clearly indicated the practical strategy for more dynamically pushing forward with the struggle of the first year for implementing the decisions of the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

Only when a breakthrough is made in carrying out the five-year plan from this year, the first year of implementing the decisions of the Party Congress, can the nation push ahead with the next year’s work vigorously and advance confidently toward attaining the final goal.

The meeting set forth the tasks facing the economic guidance organs and the national economy sectors and the ways for implementing them, and underscored the need for the ecological environment protection organs and law enforcement agencies to enhance their roles in preventing environmental pollution nationwide, for the disaster prevention agencies at all levels to increase their ability to cope with disasters and crises, and for the light industry sector to improve the quality of consumer goods and push ahead with the construction of modern light industry factories in a planned way. It also called on all fields of science and culture to make dynamic efforts to successfully implement this year’s work plans and policy-oriented tasks and thus open up a turning phase for the development of their fields and make a positive contribution to national rejuvenation and prosperity and the promotion of the people’s wellbeing.

In addition, it set forth the orientations for forming another new front for technologically and culturally transforming the coal-mining industry sector as a whole, along with the construction projects for the Regional Development 20×10 Policy.

It is not easy to launch another large front while such gigantic undertakings as the housing construction in the capital city, the rural revolution and regional-industry revolution in the new era, the new public health revolution and the education revolution are being vigorously conducted.

This is entirely attributable to the people-first politics of the WPK which is determined to pick even a star from the sky if people want it and regards the work for ensuring the dignity, happiness and wellbeing of the people as the most important affair which can never be postponed.

The meeting also discussed and decided on measures for establishing a rational and well-regulated system and order in the work of the city and county people’s committees and improving their relevant authority to meet the practical requirements so that they can powerfully lead the new stage of development of Korean-style socialist construction in their regions.

The high enthusiasm of the Korean people who have turned out as one in the drive for hitting the innovative goal of the new stage is now bringing about miraculous achievements in various sectors of the national economy.
