Sudanese FM decries US’ sanctions
July 24, 2026The Sudanese Foreign Ministry issued a statement on July 19 to denounce the US’ sanctions against its country.
On July 17 the US found fault with the issue of the Sudanese army’s “use of chemical weapons” and announced its enforcement of new sanctions against the country. The statement branded it as a unilateral and illegal act based on a false assertion.
The US has so far failed to present any evidence of the issue, the statement said, adding that it suggests that the US’ sanctions were prompted by an ulterior political purpose, not by concern over the use of chemical weapons.
