General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s Revolutionary Activities

The honourable memory of July 27, the Victory Day that enabled our great motherland to enjoy the everlasting dignity and fame as a strong power, and the heroic spirit of the victorious wartime generation serve as a precious ideological and spiritual nutrient and cornerstone of victory which dynamically encourage our people and the service personnel of the People's Army to accomplish the great historic cause of building a rich country with a strong army.

A splendid art performance was given to mark the 73rd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War in the capital city of Pyongyang on July 27 when the whole country was overflowing with the respect for the heroic defenders of the motherland in wartime and the great honour and self-confidence of the succeeding generation who are firmly preserving and glorifying the high honour of war victory and opening up the wonderful era of transformation for the prosperity of the country.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, saw the art performance together with war veterans and persons of wartime merit invited to the celebrations of Victory Day.

When Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared in the auditorium, the audience raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!"

The performers and audience paid the highest tribute to Comrade Kim Jong Un, the symbol of the mightiness of our Party, state and people and the banner of all the victories and glory.

Comrade Kim Jong Un extended congratulations to the war veterans, the persons of wartime merit and all other people across the country and officers and men of the whole army who are significantly celebrating the holiday of great war victory.

He met with war veterans and sincerely wished them long life in good health.

Lovely children presented bouquets of fragrant flowers to Comrade Kim Jong Un and war veterans.

Among the audience were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and other senior officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs, officials of the WPK Central Committee, leading officials of ministries and national agencies, service personnel of the People's Army, officials and lecturers engaged in the administration of revolutionary relics associated with the victorious war, Pyongyang citizens including descendants of war heroes, students of revolutionary schools and other youth and students.

Diplomatic envoys of the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation staying in the DPRK were invited.

The art performance began with preludes "July 27, Our Victory Day" and "July 27 March", adding to the excitement of the meaningful Victory Day that made the audience recollect the ever-victorious history of our glorious Republic and convinced them of the greater victory in the future. Put on the stage were wartime songs and others in praise of war victory that resounded in the annals of succession.

The performers warmly congratulated war veterans and persons of wartime merit, the first-generation defenders of the motherland who created the great history of war victory of our state, representing the unanimous mind of all the people across the country.

Children's Union members and little boys and girls presented bouquets to war veterans and persons of wartime merit.

The performers sang in an excited tone wartime songs in high praise of the spirit of defending the country and revolution displayed by the victorious wartime generation who bravely fought the fierce war to safeguard the sovereignty and honour of the motherland with the transparent revolutionary faith that the motherland is just the embrace of President Kim Il Sung and they are sure to win when they absolutely believe in and follow him. The audience were filled with great emotion as the songs made them respectfully recollect the legendary annals.

Song "Red Blossom" newly composed on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of war victory was an eruption of the warmest respect of our people for the victorious wartime generation who defended the sacred sovereign right and beautiful future with infinite loyalty to the Party and revolution and ardent patriotism and created the indomitable and heroic spirit, which will be inherited as a motive force of sure victory.

The audience were deeply touched by videos showing the matchless self-sacrificing spirit, heroism and brilliant feats of excellent sons and daughters of the Chinese people who shared life and death, fighting shoulder to shoulder with our people in the same trench of the struggle for repelling the invasion by the imperialists, and such Chinese songs as "Battle Song of Chinese People's Volunteers".

The performers artistically and superbly depicted the DPRK people's eternal thanks to the brave fighters of the Chinese People's Volunteers, who assisted our people in their sacred and just war under the uplifted banner of resisting America and aiding Korea even in the difficult days of building their country and made an important contribution to the war victory and the defence of global peace and security, and the truth that the DPRK-China friendship based on the shared ideal and militant fraternity will be immortal along with the history of the great war victory.

Watching documentaries on the three years of war which imposed miserable misfortune and suffering on our people, who had been filled with the delight of national liberation and joy over new life, terrible disasters in the rigorous 1 129 days and lessons of history that should never be forgotten, the audience bore in mind as their strong will the important sense of duty of our generation to adorn with greater victory the glory and honour of our state the defenders of the motherland in the 1950s won at the cost of their blood and reliably hand them down to the next generation.

The art performance was acclaimed by the audience as it helped them have a firmer conviction that as long as the noble spirit and soul that brought about war victory are alive and the new generation faithful to the intention march on vigorously, victory belongs to the DPRK forever.

At the end of the art performance, war veterans and persons of wartime merit gave bouquets to performers.

The performance hardened the faith and will of successors to firmly defend and carry forward our ideology and system and precious tradition of victory the first defenders of the Republic safeguarded at the cost of their blood and glorify the DPRK, our beloved motherland, as a more powerful and ever-prospering socialist power.
