Compound nanomaterial-based sealing products developed

It was years ago that they embarked on the project of developing a Korean type of sealing product. One day Kim Song Mu, a section chief of the faculty, went to the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex to apply his technique of producing oxide nanomaterial, a highly profitable one which he had developed.
There he happened to know that the complex was dependent on import for the core part of large gas compressors, essential for fertilizer production. The necessary sealing product for the compressors is a hi-tech product as it works in high pressure and temperature, so no country is so generous as to let the relevant component materials and manufacturing technique be known to others.
Learning the situation, Kim Song Mu began to think how to develop a kind of sealing material in a unique way. Now he, together with his fellow researchers, set a goal of developing sealing products of their own by using compound nanomaterial and launched into the project.
They had to choose a certain nanomaterial, identify a proper mixing method, design moulds and manufacture and process products. All the jobs were strange to them.
Hundreds of experiments and many application tests took place, sometimes resulting in failure. But the researchers were stubborn in the pursuance. Finally, they succeeded in developing a new technology of synthesizing a certain kind of nanomaterial which was in wide use around the world.
The successful project, titled “Establishment of production line of sealing products using compound nanomaterial”, was awarded February 16 Sci-Tech Prize, and the researchers were also given the prize. Kim Song Mu was listed as one of the best scientists and technicians of the state in 2025 as he had rendered a great service to the economic growth by developing the technique in producing sealing products for compressors.
At the moment these researchers are persevering to attain their target of developing new kinds of advanced sealing products and other advanced important mechanical parts like friction disks for farming machinery.
