With a determination to carry out the decision of the Second Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea the officials and technicians of the Cabinet and various fields and units are accelerating the preparations for technological and cultural upgrading of the coal-mining industry.

The Cabinet is taking measures to successfully carry out the technological improvement of the coal industry and spruce up the miners’ houses and coal-mining area, identifying them as key tasks of the new long-term plan.

The projects for making the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine and Yonphung Coal Mine the standard coal mines where pit work is done by machines and put on an IT basis are being pushed steadily.

The officials and technicians of Kim Il Sung University, the National Industrial Design General Bureau, the Academy of Coal Mining Science under the Ministry of Coal Industry, Ministry of Information Industry, Kim Chaek University of Technology and the Modernization Institute of the State Academy of Sciences and the units producing coal-mining equipment are accelerating the preparations with joint efforts.

Officials of the Ministry of Coal Industry, competent scientists and technicians of the research and educational institutions and field workers are seriously examining modernization plans, technical assignments and process designs to make them perfect.

Relevant officials of the ministry are pushing ahead with the preparations for the project of building coal mining villages in close contact with various fields and units including the analysis of the number of families of miners, identification of the houses to be evacuated, working out of technical assignments and securing of aggregation collecting sites.

They are taking timely measures as they carefully examine the preparations for the construction of the modern and advanced dwelling houses and public buildings in conformity with the characteristics of the coal mining areas.

The officials and technicians of several ministries and units in charge of professional evaluation are assessing at the final stage the construction domain of the coal mining towns to be built in the next year.

The officials and technicians of different ministries and units who are at the construction sites are doing their best to make layouts by confirming the possibility of water supply and rational size of public health facilities and conducting a geological survey of sites.

Competent designers dispatched to coal mines buckled down to the work of designing coal mining towns.

Officials and designers of various units including Pyongyang Urban Planning and Design Institute and Pyongyang Survey and Geological Design Institute mainly completed the selection of the sites, topographical survey and measuring and started the geological survey.

All the design units are channelling efforts into completing the layouts and formation plans on the highest level in keeping with the synthesis of field survey data.

The designers in charge of the design of the village of the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine under the Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex are devoting their wisdom and enthusiasm in order to present formation plans in conformity with the aspirations, aesthetic perspective and civilization level of the times.

Those of the Paektusan Academy of Architecture, Pugang Design Institute and other design units are striving to present the designs which are novel and unique in terms of architectural style and function and which can guarantee the quality of structures for 100 years.
