Today, the DPRK has entered a new era of comprehensive development of socialism.

The road the country has so far followed for realizing the will and desire of the people and bringing their ideals and dreams into bloom has never been smooth, but the Koreans have displayed their unique political and ideological might.

In retrospect, they had to build a new country with nothing, the three-year Fatherland Liberation War was just like a showdown between a rifle and an A-bomb, and the postwar reconstruction was an arduous struggle that started on the ruins of war without a single brick remaining intact.

Socialist construction was also a confrontation between revolution and counterrevolution and a struggle to shatter flunkeyism and dogmatism, and the struggle for defending socialism in the 1990s was literally a showdown between ideologies and between faiths.

The Korean people have overcome these trying ordeals on the strength of ideology.

The new era of comprehensive development of socialism, greeted by them, is as good as a period of war to smash the enemy's blockade and sanctions to isolate and stifle the country.

Nevertheless, the Koreans have put the prestige and reputation of the country on the highest level with their unique ideological and spiritual traits of firmly uniting around the Workers' Party of Korea in ideology and purpose, throwing in their lot with the country and unhesitatingly sacrificing their lives to defend the interests of the country, with their absolute trust in and support for their leader and with their united efforts to uphold the plans and decisions of the Party Central Committee with practices.

The secret to the fact that the DPRK created miracles in bolstering up its national defence capabilities and made noteworthy achievements in putting the overall national economy on a track of growth in such a short span of time and the factor for having built a great number of gigantic entities of the programme for the rural revolution in the new era and of the regional development policy lie in the patriotic enthusiasm of all the people who have made single-minded efforts by focusing on the rejuvenation and development of the country.

The ideological and spiritual traits of the Korean people, who keenly feel the validity of the Party's policy through every socialist measure benefiting them and devote their all to the prosperity of the socialist country by accepting the demand of the country as their inherent duty in life, constitute the most powerful strength of the country.
