Fishery stations of different provincial fishery management bureaus on the east coast of Korea have more than doubled the fish catch as compared to the same period of last year.

The Ministry of Fisheries predicts that the intensive fishing campaign will continue for a certain period in view of the crowds of sardines currently being formed in the main fishing grounds off the east coast.

Fishery stations on the east coast are pushing ahead with fishing while boldly improving the previous fishing methods in keeping with the change in the fish’s migration characters caused by the alteration in oceanic conditions this year.

Fuel and other materials are supplied to fishing boats in advance on the sea so that they can steadily conduct the intensive fishing campaign. All the fishing boats are making skilful use of the weather and marine forecast service system "Phurunbada" and the fishing ground detection support system based on satellite information in order to improve the accuracy of the detection of main fishing grounds.

The Chongjin fishery station for supplying feed to the Central Zoo is leading other units under the ministry in the intensive fishing of sardines.

The station has made an in-depth analysis of the oceanic conditions including water temperature and flow in relevant waters on the basis of meteorological data and rapidly sent fishing boats to the waters where conditions suit the ecological features of sardines, thereby making innovative achievements in fishing every day.

Fishermen of the station are keeping increasing their sardine catch in the intensive fishing campaign in the spirit they displayed in the previous fishing of sea trouts.

The Chongjin and Kim Chaek fishery stations under the North Hamgyong Provincial Fishery Management Bureau are overfulfilling their daily quotas in the intensive sardine catching campaign.

The fishermen of the Kim Chaek Fishery Station invented and introduced an innovative fishing method fundamentally different from the previous fixed method on the basis of scientific prediction of the migration of sardines, thereby boosting the fish catch per netting.

Other fishery stations including the Songdowon Fishery Station of the Kangwon Provincial Fishery Management Bureau and the Tanchon Fishery Station of the Sinpho Deep-Sea Fishery Complex are landing large quantities of fish every day while directing efforts to improving the technical conditions of fishing boats.
