A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry on August 7 answered a question put by a journalist as regards the fact that the public has further raised voices against the authorities’ ambition for possessing nukes in Japan.

He said that nearly 80 percent of the Japanese citizens call for keeping to the “three non-nuclear principles” and oppose “sharing of nukes” and it fully shows their stand toward the authorities’ moves for possessing nuclear weapons.

The Japanese authorities’ attempt to destroy the “three non-nuclear principles” while openly talking about the “proposal for nuclear option” reveals the ever-expanding political and military ambition of the Japanese right-wing forces and is tantamount to gambling with the future of their citizens, he noted.

The Japanese authorities should lend an ear to the voice of the citizens, thoroughly fulfil the international legal obligation related to nuclear weapons and stop playing with fire over the nuclear issue and not go against the public mindset once again, he stressed.
