The Samjiyon Food Show-2026 was held in the city of Samjiyon from August 10 to 14 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Korean Association of Cooks.

The show was held on the theme of "Food culture in mountainous tourist resort". It was attended by organizations of the public service and external service sectors, the public catering sector in Pyongyang, the service sectors of ministries and national agencies, public catering sectors of provinces (municipalities), and the hotel and public catering service sector in the Samjiyon Mountainous Tourist Resort.

The show was held in the method of making all the participating organizations prepare, display and serve designated dishes according to categories.

Attracting the attention of the visitors were sweet pumpkin pancake, vegetable bread, catfish fry, etc. presented by cooks of Chongnyu Restaurant, Changgwang Restaurant Group and Pyongyang Catfish Soup Restaurant.

Cooks of public catering agencies in Pothonggang, Phyongchon and Mangyongdae districts presented dumplings, mixed sauté of bean-curd and mushroom, and twist of bread which they made by preserving the unique taste and attributes of foods according to the jury indices by displaying their skills.

Local speciality dishes also attracted the attention of experts.

The public catering establishments in North Phyongan, South Phyongan and Kangwon provinces presented various kinds of dishes and drinks with local characteristics including bellflower root salad, potato preserved in honey and Crataegus pinnatifida tea.

Fern sauté, cooked leopard plant, potato pancake and bog bilberry tea made by hotels and restaurants in Samjiyon City, including Milyong Hotel, Ponnamu Hotel and Uncurdled Bean Curd Restaurant of the Samjiyon City Public Catering Agency, were also popular among visitors for their local flavour.

At the closing ceremony held on August 14, the jury results were announced and diplomas were awarded to the highly appreciated organizations and participants.
