A research group of the Tumour Institute of the Academy of Medical Sciences has made achievements in research into the treatment of cancerous diseases based on the combination of Koryo medicine and modern medicine.

The research group made an in-depth study of the world trend of treatment of cancerous diseases and the constitutional characteristics of the Koreans for a long time.

In the course of this, the researchers paid attention to the fact that radical surgery is being performed around the world after treatment using different new local intervention techniques is given and that cancer often metastasizes when patients undergo surgery and chemotherapy.

Therefore, they intensified research by setting themselves a goal of establishing a new treatment method of Korean style which combines local intervention and Koryo therapy.

A big challenge here was to determine rational mixing ratios and dosages of Koryo medicines and acupoints according to cancerous diseases.

After a painstaking study, they developed a new and effective treatment method and introduced it into clinical practice, thus giving patients hope of life.

A man living in Phyongchon District, Pyongyang, said: “After I had an operation for gastric cancer, it spread and tumours began to appear again at soft tissues. Radiotherapy was ineffective. But since I received this treatment at the Tumour Institute, no tumour has been found so far. I am now living without any inconvenience.”

Another man living in Central District, Pyongyang, said: "As I could not get surgery since gastric cancer spread to the liver, I received a treatment in this new method at the Tumour Institute of the Academy of Medical Sciences. It proved incredibly effective.”
