Many countries around the world are channelling efforts into the development of education, regarding it as a key to national prosperity.

Vietnam has worked out a plan to extensively instruct 10 million people from all walks of life, from senior middle school students to state officials, in AI technology by 2030. In particular, it reportedly intends to give deep education related to artificial intelligence to 100 000 teachers, lecturers and officials in the education sector so that they can lead the nationwide drive to learn AI technology and widen the scale of the work. And it plans to train over 50 000 talents with the AI technology application ability and knowledge of higher education and assign them to important sectors and train at least 10 000 engineers, researchers and experts in the field of artificial intelligence.

Liberia has decided to abolish the registration fee at all state primary schools from the new school year beginning in September this year. In this country, one-third of all children are unable to go to primary school as they cannot pay the registration fee. The proper implementation of the government’s measure for abolishing the registration fee is reportedly expected to be a great help in increasing the school registration and enrollment rates of children at primary school age and lightening the burden of needy families.

Laos attaches importance to vocational technical education and directs national efforts to it. According to the government’s measure, a plan for giving vocational technical education to the middle school students will be introduced in nine provinces by next year and over 100 000 people will receive expertise education throughout the country. To this end, measures are taken to improve the qualifications of teachers and promote cooperation between schools and workplaces.

South Africa is developing preschool education. The government built more than 13 000 childcare facilities in the past one year and plans to steadily increase state investment in preschool education for the next three years. The minister of basic education of the country noted that increasing investment in nursing and education of preschool children in South Africa is an important guarantee for achieving long-term economic prosperity.

The Mozambican President stressed the need to develop higher education at an event. The country should promote higher education to realize industrialization and bring about technological innovations and economic changes, he said, calling on universities to make positive contributions to the prosperity of the country by directing efforts to the research into the advanced science fields such as artificial intelligence and to the training of experts.
