Efforts are directed to building raw materials bases for normalizing production at regional-industry factories in different parts of the country.

The Kangwon Provincial People’s Committee has encouraged all cities and counties to put efforts into building raw materials bases and manuring and tending crops and effectively consolidate their material and technical foundations. As a result, the areas for raw materials bases have increased to nearly 5 000 hectares in the province this year alone and its plan for the production of wheat, barley and other early cereal crops has been overfulfilled.

Kimhwa, Kosan, Ichon, Sepho and Cholwon counties where there were built modern regional-industry factories have worked hard to increase the capacity of raw materials bases and establish a well-knit system of storing and supplying raw materials.

Yonthan County of North Hwanghae Province created large areas of raw materials bases in a short span of time by finding spots favourable for farming with emphasis placed on sunny ones with good conditions for the supply of water and has put in effort to improve the fertility of their soil.

Taean District of Nampho Municipality, too, has channelled major efforts into laying solid material and technical foundations for raw materials bases.

The district sent tractors and various other farm machines and small and medium farm implements to the raw materials bases to help further raise the level of mechanization of farm work there.

While providing the bases with more materials including vinyl sheets, fuel and fertilizer, it newly built buildings for workteams and depots for farm machines in a short time.

Many cities and counties in Jagang Province, too, built buildings for the board and lodging of workteams and domestic animal sheds at raw materials base stations so that their employees can devote themselves to farming without any worry.

Officials and employees of the raw materials bases are making devoted efforts to raise the per-hectare yield while effectively manuring and tending crops under the uplifted banner of scientific farming-first principle.
