Several contests recently took place in the education field.

A programming contest of university students was held in the teacher training sector.

The national programming contest of university students in the teacher training sector-2026 was aimed at training educational talents with extensive knowledge and practical abilities and developing and using a larger number of programs conducive to educational practice.

Hamhung, Nampho and Phyongsong universities of education and other universities were highly appreciated in the contest.

Memory and super speed reading contests were also held.

They were aimed at promoting the sharing and transfer of successes and experience of outstanding talents and generalizing new study methods conducive to developing intellectual faculty.

Hamhung and Sariwon Ri Kye Sun universities of education and Pyongyang and Sariwon teachers training colleges were highly appreciated in the ninth memory contest of university students in the teacher training sector, and Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences, Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies, Sariwon Kang Kon College of Medical Sciences and Pyongyang College of Cookery in the 14th super speed reading and memory contest of students of universities in the sci-tech sector.

Contests for improving foreign language ability were also held.

Kim Il Sung University, the University of Sciences, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences, Pyongyang Jang Chol Gu University of Commerce and Pyongyang University of Architecture were highly rated in the multilingual contest of students of universities in the sci-tech sector-2026, which was aimed at training a larger number of multilingual talents and generalizing the successes and experience gained at universities.

The foreign language conversation contest in the general education sector-2026 was also held with the attendance of excellent students selected from the first and second year classes of junior middle schools and the first and second year classes of senior middle schools in each province.

The contest was held with the aim of enhancing the conversation abilities of students. It included a listening test and the dialogue between two students representing each province on a certain topic and over a certain situation.

The contests served as an occasion not only for exchanging lots of excellent successes and experience obtained in the course of training talents with extensive knowledge and practical abilities and through educational practice, but also for impressing on the participants once again the importance of the study of teaching materials and the fact that the great abilities and qualifications of teachers result in the improvement of students' abilities.
