US' new nuclear strategy a serious threat to global security environment

September 2, 2026

The US moves toward nuclear hegemony aimed at gaining the absolute upper hand in strength have entered a new dangerous stage, arousing concern and vigilance among the international community.

According to a foreign news report, the present US administration has begun to draw up a new nuclear strategy intended to lower the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons.

Commenting on it, media outlets and experts said that the current US administration has started to map out a new nuclear strategy focusing on the expansion of its offensive capability using tactical nuclear weapons in order to cope with the potential regional disputes with China and Russia.

This shows that the US nuclear strategy is turning into a more offensive-oriented one designed to use nukes in real war by going beyond the so-called “deterrence mission”.

All the successive US administrations examined their nuclear strategies on a regular basis, but the attempt to work out a new nuclear strategy clearly proves how adventurous and serious the US moves for maintaining the nuclear hegemony are.

The US, which is the only country in the world that used nuclear weapons, has persistently sought to modernize nuclear forces rapidly and use nukes in a real war, regarding nuclear weapons as a main means of achieving hegemony-seeking and aggressive political and military purposes for a long time.

In the nuclear posture review report issued in 2018, the US announced that it would launch the modernization of the strategic nuclear forces and the development of low-yield nuclear weapons and the condition of using nukes is also applicable to the case when it is attacked by conventional weapons.

Accordingly, the US was busy upgrading the three nuclear strategy assets, including the development and production of the Columbia-class strategic nuclear submarine, the new-type ICBM LGM-35A Sentinel and the 6th-generation nuclear strategic bomber B-21 Raider, while putting spurs to deploying the low-yield nuclear warhead W76-2 and the tactical nuclear bomb B61-12 for action.

It is also spending enormous funds on modernizing its overseas military bases in order to deploy more US-made tactical nuclear weapons in NATO allies of Europe.

All facts prove that the new US nuclear strategy aimed at facilitating the use of nukes in a real war has already entered the implementation stage.

The new US nuclear doctrine is a serious danger factor that destroys the nuclear balance in the world, escalates the nuclear arms race and drives global security environment to the critical point of the outbreak of a nuclear war.

It is clear that its new nuclear strategy will most adversely affect the security environment in the Asia-Pacific region in which nuclear weapons states are concentrated.

After making it a fait accompli to unleash a nuclear war against the DPRK, the US drew up the nuclear operation guidelines with the puppet ROK and holds regular confabs of the Nuclear Consultative Group. And it has already promised that it would provide Japan with extended deterrents including nuclear weapons.

It foretells that the first target of its new nuclear strategy may be no other place than the Korean peninsula.

In order to maintain the balance of power with the enemy states and guarantee the DPRK’s security right and regional peace, its only option is to overwhelmingly build up the nuclear combat power.
