General education sector focuses on raising qualifications of teachers

The general education sector is channelling effort into improving the qualifications of teachers.

The teachers of in-service training schools for teachers across the country analyzed the successes and experience gained in the first term of the implementation of the second universal 12-year compulsory education programme and had an in-depth discussion of the practical matters arising in correctly implementing the educational curriculum for the new term during the summer vacation.

In particular, they directed efforts to enhancing teachers’ abilities a level higher in the application of teaching methods and techniques and the creation and application of teaching aids.

The Central Continuous Teachers Training Centre intensified the work to instruct the local teachers in new educational achievements to suit the characteristics of schools and regions and got the work done first at the backward units.

It also encouraged extensive guidance, assistance and experience sharing among teachers in bridging the gap in the level of education between towns and rural villages. To this end it put in efforts to send excellent teachers in Pyongyang to rural schools in the suburbs to set an example and generalize it.

The Pyongyang Municipal Continuous Teachers Training Centre intensified technical guidance with the main emphasis placed on ensuring that teachers complete efficient and novel teaching methods of their own style.

The work was actively promoted in a competition between districts and between schools.
