Farms in North Hwanghae Province are taking agro-technical measures to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.

The province has intensified technical guidance to protect the farmland and crops in keeping with the unfavourable weather conditions and actively cope with the disastrous abnormal climate.

It inspires the officials of city and county agricultural guidance organs and members of the scientific farming promotion teams to further enhance their role in learning about the growth of crops according to farms, fields and plots and manuring and cultivating the crops scientifically and technologically.

Accordingly, many rural areas are focusing on manuring and cultivating crops to minimize the effects of natural disasters.

Sariwon City and Pongsan County have rearranged waterways and ridges between paddy fields in a qualitative way to prevent rice from being flooded by heavy rain and are taking agro-technical measures to minimize damage from moisture.

Foresighted measures are also taken to prevent crop damage from harmful insects at farms in the province.

As the danger of harmful insect infestations has recently increased due to the high humidity of the atmosphere, the province has established a more efficient system for monitoring and forecasting harmful insects and is pushing the work to minimize relevant damage.

The provincial rural economy committee is making exact demands on all farms so that they manure and cultivate crops in the latter half of their growth in a qualitative way while constantly observing and grasping the outbreak of harmful insects according to weather conditions.

The provincial vegetable anti-epidemic centre has sent agrochemical substitutes made with locally available raw materials to those in cities and counties and farms and is directing efforts to the monitoring and forecasting work to prevent damage from harmful insects.

Junghwa and Sangwon counties have arranged technical studies and demonstrations to help farmers correctly understand the kinds of harmful insects and the aftermaths of damage by them and do the farm work scientifically.

The Kangan Farm in Unpha County, the Changmae Farm in Yonthan County and others have also further enhanced the role of the harmful insect observers and technical instructors of workteams and manured and cultivated crops in a scientific and technological way, thus creating favourable conditions for the growth of crops.
