The 18th BRICS summit took place in New Delhi, India, on September 12 and 13.

Present there were heads of state and government of the BRICS member nations and partner countries, delegations of other different countries and representatives of international organizations.

The meeting discussed the issues of boosting cooperation in various fields including trade, artificial intelligence, digital industry, training of scientific and technological talents and security, and exchanged views on international and regional issues.

The participants in the meeting said BRICS should further extend its influence to cope with the present complicated international situation and play a bigger role for global peace, stability and prosperity.

A New Delhi declaration was adopted at the meeting.

In the declaration the BRICS member states decided to develop cooperation on the principle of mutual respect and reaffirmed their commitment to remaining faithful to the BRICS’ spirit based on sovereign equality, solidarity and consensus.

They expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in the major fields such as politics, the economy, culture and humanitarian contact, oppose unilateral sanctions contrary to international law and the UN Charter, and continue to put forward the primary demands of the newly-emerging and developing countries and play a key role in establishing a more just and stable world order.

The next BRICS summit will be held in China in 2027.
