The Brazilian President rejected firmly and instantly the US’ gangster-like demand for his country’s major mineral resources on September 17.

In an interview with a domestic broadcasting company, he said that the condition set out by the US administration is unacceptable and the US document has been disposed of as a “scrap document”.

The Brazilian government did not discuss the document at all, because it is intolerable for any country to claim the preferential right to get Brazil’s mineral resources, he stressed.

The prospecting, processing and industrialized process of the Brazilian mineral resources should be conducted pursuant to the regulations of Brazil, he asserted.

According to him, the strategy of Brazil is to encourage to improve the value added through the processing and manufacturing process at home prior to exporting the minerals.

The US administration has recently demanded to ensure preferential approach to the American companies as it informed of the sale of minerals in advance before concluding a dealing related to the strategic mineral assets of Brazil.
