Kim Chaek University of Technology greeted its 78th birthday on September 27. 

Since its establishment with nine faculties in 1948, the university has developed into a comprehensive educational and scientific research unit which trains sci-tech talents needed for all fields of the country’s industries and makes remarkable successes in solving scientific and technological problems.

“Kim Chaek” in the name of the university was an anti-Japanese revolutionary fighter who made a positive contribution to accomplishing the historic cause of Korea’s liberation and a prominent Party and state activist of the country. Soon after the founding of the DPRK, he was vice-premier and concurrently minister of Industry in the Cabinet.

The university, which has always fulfilled the mission it assumed for the country and people, has successfully solved many urgent scientific and technological problems arising in the reality.

In recent years its lecturers and researchers solved lots of sci-tech problems of great significance in the development of the national economy, such as the establishment of the integrated electricity generating system of the Tanchon Power Station, the completion of the research project for the revitalization of production at the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex and the modernization of the Samgwang Livestock Farm which was built as a new model for the development of animal husbandry.

In its efforts to make a leap and advance towards a research university, it built a splendid general experimental education hall and has positively involved students in carrying out important scientific research projects from the stage of lower year.

Not only lecturers and researchers but students published significant essays in prestigious international scientific journals, creating a great sensation.

President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il paid great attention to the development of the university, visited it several times to give precious instructions and showed it great love and care for the improvement of its educational conditions and environment and for its lecturers, researchers and students.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un also takes loving care of the university with a special affection for it.

He made sure that nice houses were built for the lecturers and researchers of the university on the picturesque banks of the Taedong River, visited the university in a year to congratulate lecturers and researchers on its 70th founding anniversary and voted for the president of the university, a candidate for deputy to the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly, in the elections held at the university campus the following year.

Now lecturers, researchers and students of the university make positive efforts to repay the love and trust of the great leaders and live up to the expectations of the people with greater scientific research achievements.
