Anti-Israel sentiment runs high in West
October 2, 2026The West is becoming increasingly critical of the Israeli warmongers keen on exterminating Palestinians and realizing their ambition for territorial expansion.
Recently, the British foreign secretary announced a sanctions measure against Israel, including an import ban on goods made in Israeli settlements in the West Bank and restriction of British companies’ provision of services to the settlements.
He said he considered Israel’s occupation of the West Bank illegal and would ban the propaganda about Israeli settlements.
In this regard, the British prime minister said that the measure taken by the country was not aimed at the Israeli people but at supporting the two-state solution and the future in which the Israeli and Palestinian peoples co-exist peacefully. Then he referred to the fact that the humanitarian crisis persists in the Gaza Strip where innocent Palestinians including children are being slaughtered.
France and Canada joined the sanctions measure of the UK.
The leaders of the three countries in their joint statement said that the recently imposed sanctions constitute another turning point in defending the two-state solution, adding that the solution is essential for peace, stability and security in the Middle East and beyond and also conforms to the national interests of the UK, France and Canada.
The foreign ministers of twelve countries including Denmark, Spain, Finland, Ireland and Iceland also issued a joint statement.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands, Norway and some other countries are expected to impose a ban on import of goods produced in Israeli settlements.
Israel has become unable to escape international isolation as even the Western countries which used to defend and patronize the country are taking tough measures against it.
The Palestinian ambassador to the UK said that sanctions against Israeli settlements in the West Bank should have been imposed earlier, adding that the measure shows that after recognizing the state of Palestine in September last year, the UK government is proving the recognition by action, not by words.
