Chinese defense ministry decries Japan’s neo-militarist moves

A spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense of China at a press conference on September 24 denounced Japan’s neo-militarist moves.

Before and after the anniversary of the September 18 incident, the Japanese authorities let some politicians trumpet that the “Taiwan emergency” constitutes an “existence crisis” of Japan and, at the same time, staged joint military exercises in different parts of the country together with the US and Australia. They are also pushing ahead with the construction of missile and ammunition facilities on the southwestern islands.

In answer to a question raised in this regard, the spokesman said that Japanese militarists deliberately fabricated the September 18 incident and ignited a war of aggression against China, thus committing untold crimes against the peoples of China and other neighbouring countries in Asia and the world.

Japan is still resorting to the old trick, rather than repenting of the crimes it committed during the invasion, and stepping up remilitarization under the pretext of the “existence crisis”, thereby threatening regional peace and stability, he noted.

The international community should increase vigilance against this and resolutely check Japan’s neo-militarist moves, he stressed.
