The Birthday of King Tangun was commemorated with due ceremony at the Mausoleum of King Tangun on October 3.

Present there were Kim Hyong Sik, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Jon Sung Guk, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials of the History and Heritage Administration, officials concerned, working people in Pyongyang and overseas compatriots staying in the homeland.

There was an ancestral rite for Tangun.

Then Hwang Kwang Il, director of the History and Heritage Administration, made a commemorative report.

The reporter praised the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, who ensured that the remains of Tangun, ancestral father of Korea, was found out and the Mausoleum of King Tangun was wonderfully renovated to add lustre to the 5 000-year history of the nation.

He noted that the DPRK has greeted a great new era of self-reliance and rejuvenation on the road of historic advance for the overall development of socialism under the veteran and seasoned guidance of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the peerless patriot.
