A reception was given in celebration of the 77th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on September 30.

President Xi Jinping attended the reception together with senior party and state officials and personages at home and abroad.

He made an important speech.

The Communist Party of China achieved the first century struggle goal of building a comprehensively well-off society by rallying and leading the people for the past 77 years and is now advancing vigorously toward the second century struggle goal of comprehensively building a modern and powerful socialist state, he said.

He said that this year, the whole Party and whole country have made a courageous advance and waged a powerful struggle, worked out and put into effect the 15th five-year plan and efficiently pushed the work in all domains.

China should maintain the general keynote of work pursuing development in stability, thoroughly ensure and improve the people’s livelihood and make efforts to implement this year’s goals and tasks, thereby making a good start in implementing the 15th five-year plan, he pointed out.

He stressed that China will continue to pursue an independent and peaceful foreign policy and promote the building of a community of shared destiny.
