Farms benefit from natural fertilizer
October 19, 2026Researchers of the Uiam natural substance production company under the University of National Economy developed virgin sulfur mud fertilizer, which has drawn the attention of agricultural officials and working people.
The virgin sulfur mud fertilizer is a natural fertilizer prepared in such a way as to make various essential nutritive elements in the sulfur mud, which is abundant in the west coastal area of the country, very soluble to be easily absorbed by crops.
The fertilizer evenly contains various nutrient elements such as macronutrients and microelements needed for the growth of crops and such growth regulators as humic acid and auxin and thus boosts the growth of roots of crops and the synthesis of chlorophyll and stimulates cell division so as to promote the growth and development of crops, improve their fruit-bearing rate and prevent damage by harmful insects, making it possible to increase grain production.
It is very effective in mountainous areas which have low sunshine ratio and temperature and badly suffer damage from cold weather, as well as plain areas.
The Phogu Farm in Kwail County, South Hwanghae Province, used the fertilizer this year to achieve successes in paddy rice farming in the wake of last year.
The manager of the farm said that even the plots that had suffered flood damage greatly benefited from the fertilizer.
Last year, the lowland plots were submerged owing to a heavy rain a month after the finish of rice-transplanting in them. But about two rounds of spray of the fertilizer at intervals of four to five days normalized the growth of their rice plants.
The farm sprayed the fertilizer in the plots two to three times more before the plants came into ears to clear away all the traces of flood damage, thereby increasing their per-hectare yields by hundreds of kilograms in the autumn as compared to the previous year.
This year the farm, on the basis of its accumulated experience, used the fertilizer for the growth of paddy rice from the stage of seed treatment to achieve good results.
According to its farmers, the germination rate of rice rose by about 10 to 15 percent, the number of roots increased as compared with conventional seedlings and the rate of outbreak of diseases decreased despite high temperature and humidity.
Thus the farm has reaped a bumper harvest this year, too, thanks to the fertilizer.
