Production has been stepped up at large-scale greenhouse farms built in different parts of the country in recent years.

Vegetable production is on the increase at the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, which was built in the area of Wihwa Island. 

The farm produces various kinds of vegetables including tomatoes, red peppers and other fruit vegetables that can be picked for over eight months, once they are planted, by properly organizing cultivation in a way that the fresh greenhouse vegetables are gathered by stages all the year round.

In particular, it has directed efforts to increasing the proportion of tasty and nutritious fruit vegetables.

With its large database related to vegetable cultivation technology, it effectively runs the sci-tech learning space and arranges technical study, intensive training and the like on a regular basis to make sure that employees conduct manuring and cultivation scientifically and technologically in keeping with the growth conditions of each vegetable species.

Since its inauguration last February, the farm has harvested tens of thousands of tons of various vegetables and sent them to the commercial service network in Sinuiju City and even to other cities and counties in the province.

The Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm, which has put a lot of effort into laying a foundation for boosting vegetable production in a far-sighted and planned way, has also achieved successes in vegetable production.

After establishing a system for recycling liquid nutrients, the farm increased the rate of reuse of them by filtering and sterilizing the used nutrients and adding necessary nutrient elements in a scientific and technological way. While putting much effort into the manuring and cultivation of vegetables based on different nutrition boosters, it has generalized the multi-layer and case cultivation methods capable of effectively using the spaces in greenhouses and the mixed cropping of fruit, leaf and root vegetables, thereby boosting the output per unit area. As a result, it increased the production of greenhouse vegetables over 1.5 times more than in the same period of last year.

The Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm has introduced advanced farming techniques to bring about good results in production.

The farm continues to increase the variety and strains of vegetables. While putting efforts into securing the strains with a short growth period and high nutritive value and yield along with functional crops, it efficiently conducted the dissemination of sci-tech information related to the cultivation of new strains. And it set up a new microbial agrochemicals production base to produce and use highly effective agrochemicals, thus boosting the quality and output of fruit vegetables.

At present, greenhouse vegetables being produced in hundreds of blocks are supplied to the people in succession.

The Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm has achieved good results in vegetable production by channelling efforts into acclimatizing new high-yield vegetable strains with strong resistance to diseases.
