Method of optimizing garment production processes introduced
October 27, 2026Scientists of the garment engineering faculty of Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry developed a method of optimizing garment production processes and are widely introducing it.
The method is now highly appreciated at school uniform factories and many other units across the country.
"Optimizing the organization of the production processes integrated into a single assembly line is a prerequisite for reducing time and increasing efficiency in mass-production at garment factories," said Ju Song Chol, head of a department of Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry.
Lecturers and researchers of the garment engineering faculty intensified research in order to help garment factories put their production processes on a modern, IT and scientific basis.
In the course of this, they confirmed a methodology for scientifically determining the processing time according to change in garment variety in the technical process for sewing and the optimum number of employees according to varieties in a processing line.
They also developed a program for organizing the garment production process which can find out an equipment arrangement plan for minimizing the moving distance of unfinished products and calculate the number of employees, processing time and consumption of sewing thread according to the clothes processing lines in a short time.
The introduction of the program capable of improving the scientific accuracy and rationality of the arrangement of production processes has made it possible to dramatically raise labour productivity and actual yield of products while distributing manpower and utilizing equipment in a scientific way according to the processes.
Scientists who developed and introduced the method of optimizing the garment production processes were awarded a certificate of introduction of state sci-tech hits.
