Thus, he has reportedly published 10 research papers on international academic journals during his postgraduate course.
“This success, which cannot be achieved easily by anyone at the age of 27, is unthinkable apart from his untiring thinking and passion,” said instructor Paek Su Yong.
The second son born to a worker’s family in a mountain village of Cholsan County in North Phyongan Province, Song Mu was said to be the most mischievous of all three sons.
No furniture in the house remained undamaged by the arrows shot in competition by the three sons with a bow made by Song Mu. He wanted to be like the hero of the animation “The Boy General”, which was being televised attracting interest among children.
Then there was an occasion for him to cherish a big dream.
On December 12 2012 when he was thirteen years old, he climbed the mountain behind his school in the native village with his teacher and classmates and saw the successful launch of artificial earth satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2 with his own eyes.
Looking at the satellite soaring high into the open sky, his teacher told the students that day that if they studied hard, excellent scientists launching satellites would be produced from among them of the school in the mountainous area and that the bigger dreams they follow, the greater goals they will attain.
From that day, the boy in the mountain village kept in mind a precious dream of becoming an excellent scientist.
He studied hard to fulfil this dream and was honoured with the July 15 Honour Student Prize in his middle school days, and finally entered the electronics and automation faculty of
Song Mu, the first student of
He burned the midnight oil at the university, bearing in mind the request of his teacher and villagers to become an outstanding talent of the country. He began to gradually cut a conspicuous figure in his major subject and was involved in research projects from the third year.
He took the lead in resolving difficult sci-tech problems in the research group and was honoured with the University Student Scientific Search Prize at the time of graduation from the university.
Entering the postgraduate school, Song Mu set himself a higher goal to compete with and lead the world.
He selected the active disturbance rejection control technology, which is widely applied in the field of control engineering and has become the focus of scientific research in the world, as the theme of his research project and intensified the research. He finished his first essay and contributed it to an SCI-class international academic journal.
In November 2024, his essay was recognized by the academic circles for the novel and logical idea and unique solution and carried on an international academic journal.
And in only two years he published valuable essays recognized by the world scientific circles in succession and played a key role in establishing integrated control systems in the production processes of several units.
He also contrived several apparatuses for experiments and practical training including an inverted pendulum control instrument to measure the performance of control devices.
Whenever lecturers and colleagues lavish praise on the successes he achieved at the young age, he often says that it is just the beginning for him.
The young scientist continues to follow the road of scientific research to compete with the world and raise the country's control engineering technology to the world level.
