President Xi issues important directive as regards quake damage in Tibet autonomous region
October 30, 2026Chinese President Xi Jinping has issued an important directive as regards quake damage in a city of the Tibet autonomous region.
He pointed to the need to minimize casualties by concentrating all efforts on search and rescue operations for victims and treating the injured with all efforts.
As the afflicted area is high above sea level and it is cold there, it is necessary to prevent the occurrence of second calamity by carefully watching the state of the quake and climate change and carrying out the rescue operation in a scientific way, he said.
He stressed the need to settle down the people in the area, urgently repair the destroyed infrastructures and thoroughly guarantee the safety of the people’s lives and property.
It is reported that according to the directive, a working group was dispatched to the spot and an intensive relief operation is under way in the area.
