Submission to US invites pain and misfortunes

October 31, 2026

GI crimes are rampant in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

At dawn of October 3 a US marine killed a woman in a hotel of Naha City and robbed her of her things.

According to information available, the cases of murder, rape, robbery and other crimes committed by GIs in Okinawa numbered over 6 230 between 1972 and 2023.

A Japanese media outlet said that various crimes committed by GIs and their families in Okinawa increased every year after 2020.

In 2024 alone, several GI crimes were concealed.

In November 2024, a GI committed a sexual assault on a local woman in a building in the middle part of Okinawa to injure her. But the police concealed the case for a long time before informing the prefectural authorities of it. Another sexual assault was perpetrated by a GI some time later, but the police authorities did not inform them of that.

The GI crimes numbered over a hundred in 2025.

GI crimes occur one after another in Okinawa owing to the Japanese authorities' policy of submission to the US.

Whenever GI crimes occurred, the Japanese authorities patronized the US forces, claiming that GIs play a great role in ensuring peace and stability and that they should not regard the US forces as villains so as to gloss over the cases while turning a blind eye to the pain and misfortunes suffered by the Japanese citizens.

Such servile behaviour remains unchanged in the present government, too.

In early October this year there occurred GIs’ murder and robbery cases, evoking stronger denunciation of the Japanese people from all walks of life. The protest developed into the anti-GI and anti-government sentiments, but the Japanese authorities were only busy trying to appease them.

The US forces in Japan have got further puffed up due to the Japanese authorities’ policy of submission to the US.

On the day after the murder and robbery case, drunken driving of GIs caused two serious accidents in Okinawa.

A professor of a university in Japan deplored, “It has become common sense in this country to close our eyes to GI crimes to some extent. The country shows no sign of the attitude of a sovereign state to protect its citizens from crimes.”

The Japanese authorities’ policy of submission to the US is the root cause of misfortune imposing only disgrace and death on the Japanese citizens.
