Parliaments of BRICS member states recently issued a joint statement against unilateral economic sanctions at the end of the 12th parliamentary forum of BRICS held in India.

The statement said that unilateral economic sanctions and other coercive measures that are contrary to international law are exerting a negative impact on the health and food security of residents in the relevant countries, and called for ending such illegal measures that break international law and breach the purpose and principles of the UN Charter.

It stressed that they roundly denounce all breaches of international humanitarian law, including the deliberate attack on civilians and civilian objects in the territory of the member states and other regions.
