Win-win competition
November 3, 2026Different kinds of competitions take place in every society, creating enormous intellectual and material wealth.
But the competition for survival where one can survive only by defeating others produced immoral methods in its course and resulted in the concentration of the wealth created by the working masses in the hands of a few people.
However, not all competitions result in this kind of evil.
Socialist competition of helping and leading one another towards a certain common goal results in the opposite.
The socialist competition organized in the DPRK is a collective innovation movement aimed at bringing about a surge in production and construction by arousing the enthusiasm and creative activity of the masses who are directly responsible for production.
When the Chollima Workteam Movement was under way in the country in the postwar period, the Korean workers upheld the slogan “For the next shift!” even though competitions existed among workteams and shifts for increasing production.
Although the time spent on the work preparations for the next shift was short, it brought about an upswing in production and fostered harmonious relations of helping and leading each other.
All the victories and miracles recorded in the course of the development of the DPRK have been achieved amid such socialist competition.
Today, socialist competition is promoted on a higher stage.
All people in all fields of society and in all sectors of the national economy are participating in socialist competition, and the traits of advanced people and units leading the backward and bringing about collective innovations are established throughout society.
In the third quarter of this year alone, the socialist competition for improving the quality of products was briskly conducted throughout the economy, so that the light industry factories newly built across the country have increased their production indices to well over one hundred as compared to the time of their inauguration and their products are on a par with those of centrally-run factories.
Underlying such collective competition, socialist competition, are the people-first politics, which ensures that the wealth created by the working masses reaches the working people themselves, and the noble moral ethics of collectivism—“One for all and all for one!”
Socialist competition, in which all the working masses become winners, serves as a powerful motive force for the advance and development of the country, ushering in a new era of the comprehensive development of socialism on this land.
