A spokesman for the Chinese defense ministry, at a press conference on October 29, roundly denounced and rejected the Japanese defense minister’s assertion that China is criticizing Japan, although it possesses nuclear weapons and strategic bombers.

He censured Japan for trying very hard to avoid its historical criminal liability, neglecting international law, turning black into white and obscuring truth. 

Japan’s tricky plea can never cover up its dangerous attempt to increase military capabilities, reinforce military equipment and possess and introduce even nukes, he said, stressing that Japan should squarely see and reflect on its history of aggression and thoroughly break with militarism.
