Giant greenhouses boost production

July 11, 2026

The large-scale greenhouse vegetable producers are increasing vegetable output.

The Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm has overfulfilled its monthly production plan by over 10 percent each month since its inauguration early this year. In June, too, it is gathering every day hundreds of tons of fresh vegetables in dozens of kinds including cucumber, tomato, red pepper, bok choy and pumpkin, making a contribution to improving the locals’ dietary life.

While paying attention to building up its technical forces, the farm arranged cultivation so as to produce fresh and green vegetables in all seasons and ensure phased harvest. It is channelling efforts into improving the taste and increasing the nutritive value of vegetables.

It is also working to produce and supply enough amounts of substitute agrochemicals by itself and encouraging its employees to actively use agricultural sci-tech service programs in order to manure and tend greenhouse vegetables in a scientific and technological way.

Such efforts are resulting in a remarkable increase in vegetable output from various types of greenhouses.

The Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm is maximizing production per unit area while lowering production costs as much as possible.

It boosts production at a lower cost than before by filtering and sterilizing the used liquid nutrients and adding nutrient elements to them in a scientific and technological way.

It regularly organizes technical study, passing-on-technique sessions and experience-sharing meetings to make all the employees have a good understanding of the global trend in the management and operation of greenhouses and actively apply what they have learned to practice.

As a result, varieties and output of greenhouse vegetables have increased by 1.5 times and 2.7 times respectively as compared to the same period of last year.

The Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm turns out a variety of tasty and highly nutritious fresh vegetables to supply them to locals in Hamhung City and other areas of South Hamgyong Province.

The officials and employees of the farm are directing primary efforts to putting vegetable production on a more modern, intensive and industrial footing.

They are gathering tens of tons of vegetables every day by channelling big efforts into the manuring and tending of crops, monitoring and forecasting of harmful insects, the more effective use of spaces in greenhouses and careful tending of each plant.

The Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm pays due attention to further increasing the varieties of functional vegetables favoured by people and improving their quality.

It strives to introduce distinctive varieties in close contact with the relevant units.

While acclimatizing new varieties to specific climatic conditions in the area, it steadily increases the area for growing functional vegetables.

Broccoli and other kinds of functional vegetables are now growing in its greenhouses.
